What is Zi Wei Dou Shu?
Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗数) is a traditional Chinese system that arranges symbolic stars in twelve life-domain palaces using a birth date and traditional birth hour. It is a cultural interpretation framework, not a measurement of physical stars or a scientifically established prediction.

Classical transmission
Works such as the Complete Book of Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗数全书) preserve rules associated with the Ming–Qing transmission. Schools may use different calendar and star-placement conventions.
Ni Hai-Xia and Tian Ji
Ni Hai-Xia taught a modern interpretation of the method in his Tian Ji lectures. He was a teacher of this material, not the historical inventor of Zi Wei Dou Shu. Ziwei360 is an independent service, not his official or endorsed product.

How is a birth chart calculated?
A chart is produced by fixed traditional placement rules. The computer calculates the positions; interpretation comes afterward.

The engine applies the chosen traditional calendar and time-branch rules, including the configured leap-month convention.

Locate the Life and Body palaces and related life-domain palaces under the chart convention.

Calculate the Five-Elements Bureau, fourteen main stars, supporting stars and Lu / Quan / Ke / Ji (四化) markers.

Which fourteen major symbolic stars?
Zi Wei, Tian Ji, Sun, Wu Qu, Tian Tong, Lian Zhen, Tian Fu, Moon, Tan Lang, Ju Men, Tian Xiang, Tian Liang, Qi Sha, Po Jun.
These star names are positions calculated by convention, not observations of the birth-night sky.
Ziwei360 currently uses local civil birth time, without longitude / true-solar correction. The 23:00 late-Zi convention advances the chart date. Different schools may produce different charts.
